Day 1: Cape Town
Let your day of Cape Town adventure begin .... on a red double Dekker open-roof bus! If you only knew what awaits you! The views, the crisp air straight off the mountains as you ride in style; high on mountain passes, and deep into valleys below with a choice of 30 stops along the way. There are popular, yet open and uncrowded, beaches that are flanked by breath-taking mountains. Some are lined with gourmet restaurants and spontaneous entertainment. On other beaches, you can be mesmerised by surfers and kite surfers for hours.
Day 2: Cape Town
As a nature-lover, you will be hard to press for better than historical, expansive, world-admired botanical gardens and nature reserves. Or if you prefer the quiet bustle of the Cape Town metro, historical sites and streets bursting with photography opportunities. Fascinating and empowering museums and the ever-popular V&A Waterfront are yours to decide how you want to experience your day.
Day 3: Hermanus
Hemel-en-Aarde (Heaven and Earth) has a Wine Walk worthy of its name. This 3 hour guided, downhill ramble through Fynbos, vineyards and olive groves, passes through several farms, that offer light meals with their vineyard's best. Or visit up to eight vineyards in the "Hemel-en-Aarde" Valley in the safari-style Hop-on Hop-off vehicle. Looking to relax for the afternoon? Eclectic and Formal Art Galleries boast some of the best South African artists. Perhaps head to the tranquil and exquisite Grotto Beach. A local favourite, it is flanked by towering mountains and boasts a wide seemingly-endless beach in both directions. Hermanus is known for being the Whale Watching capital of the world from July-November.
Day 4: Swellendam
Driving past the patchwork of vibrant yellow Canola and patterned wheat fields, you will discover the perpetually-green Swellendam. This small town, with a beautiful white church and backed by magnificent mountains, holds some quirky secrets. There is a Berry Farm, with a well-stocked farm stall, galleries and a pottery studio. If you enjoy spending time with fairies, you will enjoy the exploration of winding town streets, before you stumble across the whimsical fairy Sanctuary. There are a variety of gardens you can enjoy a picnic in, and visit the thousands of fairies that are packed into this magical space.
Day 5: Knysna
Knysna has recently become a preferred travel destination for golfers, as the town boasts several world-class ranges. These include the Pezula Golf Course, the Simola Golf Course and the Knysna Golf Course, situated along the lagoon. The lagoon in all its changing beauty is an undeniable attraction, and the forests and well-protected nature reserves that surround it are intertwined with walks and picnic areas.
Day 6: Knysna
A little rock-hopping will take you right up to the Knysna "Heads" - the gateway from the wild ocean into the peaceful sanctuary of the lagoon, known to cradle multiple estuary marine life and rare Knysna seahorses.
Day 7: Travel Home
It's farewell to Knysna, and time to hit the road back home. Not before one last scenic photograph though as you leave this charming town.
Which way are we leaning: Rooibos or regular? Milk: yes or no? The standard sugar inquiry, a two-part question if the first answer is yes.
And if you have your black belt in tea-making, one final question concerning the tea bag: in or out?
How are you supposed to remember that all if you're making tea for, oh say, 3 people?
It doesn't concern today's deals at all, but we had to think about something while we waited for the kettle to boil.
