About

The Swartland begins some 50 kilometres north of Cape Town and consists of the regions between the towns of Malmesbury in the south, Darling in the west, Piketberg in the north and the Riebeek West and Riebeek Kasteel in the east. It is so-called because of the endemic Renosterbos that appears dark mainly when it rains in winter. The Swartland area is mainly known for wheat, but the crown prince in this area is the small concentrated berries off the vines that produce well-balanced and exceptionally ripe and deep-flavoured wines.

Product Features
  • Marras Was Jou Hanepoot is a dry white made from Muscat de Alexandria grapes (locally known as hanepoot), which just so happens to a baboons favourite.
  • A baboon will stroll right past vineyards full of the best Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Shiraz grapes and put their body on the line to steal some Hanepoot from a farmer's kitchen. That's some serious dedication.
  • We're also yet to meet a pun we didn't love on sight, so Was Jou Hanepoot is a little reminder that we all need to keep washing our hands to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus within our communities.
  • You'll also notice we refer to this vintage as a 'kop sanitiser' on the back label because sometimes a glass of wine is all you need to keep things in perspective when the pressure is on.
  • Notes: Spice, flowers and citrus
